My name is Nathalie and I am a creative maker, designer, decorator and general contractor.
I came up with the name "NitNat" when I was a teenager, knitting and crocheting gifts for the people in my life. The very first thing I ever bought online was a roll of custom NitNat labels (sometime around 1996)!
Since 2010 I have been decorating homes (mine, clients', and more than a few property-flips with my life and construction partner at Matt of All Trades), making small pieces of furniture as needed, and indulging my sewing and crafting urges. I did all of this during evenings and weekends while I worked a full-time as an IT Sales Executive by day.
In 2023 I decided to walk away from my successful IT sales career. My husband and I spent some time travelling in an RV while we figured out what was next, and ultimately I decided to focus on this creative side of me. To further my skills, I am investing a year to attend a woodworking and cabinetry course at a college in Barrie, Ontario. I'll be learning, hands-on, from September 2024 through August 2025.
So while NitNat was born decades ago, it was re-born in 2023 and I am excited to see where we take it from here!
I love creating unique and one-of-a-kind items for my homes, and I am obsessed with re-purposing and upcycling. Sometimes the material or item inspires the creation, and sometimes I have an idea and search for the repurposed materials to bring it to life. The end result is always a unique and beautiful living space, accent piece or gift. Check out my galleries for samples of my work!
I strive to make a positive impact on the world by creating products that are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. I re-use *everything* and save every scrap, every button, every piece of wood, and every screw! I believe that it is only in being more conscious of our waste footprints that we can start to make a world with less waste, less disposability, and better quality. When I'm working in your home, don't be surprised if I salvage (and maybe re-purpose a special item or two) every scrap of material for re-use somewhere!
